History of PDAM Tirta Kerta Raharja, Tangerang Regency
In 1923, the Dutch East Indies government built a drinking water supply system in the City of Tangerang with a capacity of 6 liters / second. This system is managed by an agency called “Water Leiding Bedrijf”.
In 1943, when the Tangerang Regency was formed, the management of the drinking water supply system was transferred to the Tangerang Regent and the “Water Leiding Bedrijf” management body was under the Public Works Agency.
In 1945, after the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the name “Water Leiding Bedrijf” was changed to “Tangerang Regency Drinking Water Company”.
30 years later, the management of drinking water supply is the responsibility of the Regional Water Supply Company of the Level II District of Tangerang (“PDAM”), in accordance with the Regional Regulation of the District of Daaerah Level II Tangerang No. 10 / HUK / 1976 dated April 13, 1976. This Regional Regulation is legalized by the Governor of West Java Province in accordance with Governor Decree No. 347 / HK.011 / SK / 1976 dated August 1, 1976.
In 1999, through Decree No. 001.690 / SK.108-HUK / 1999 dated 27 May 1999, issued by the Tangerang Regent, the name and logo of the PDAM were legalized. The Regional Water Supply Company of the Level II Tangerang Regency becomes the Regional Drinking Water Company of Tirta Kerta Raharja, Tangerang Regency.
At present, PDAM’s drinking water production capacity is around 5,000 l / sec, serving around 100,000 domestic and business customers in the Tangerang area and also selling bulk water around 2,800 l / sec to the city of Jakarta. PDAM employees number around 500 people.
